FAQDo I have to be a Christian to enrol my children at Wycliffe? No you do not have to be a Christian to gain enrolment at Wycliffe for your children. However parents should be aware that a large majority of Wycliffe families are Christians and attend a Christian church or are part of a Christian community. The school was established particularly to serve the needs of Christian families in the region. Wycliffe does have an open enrolment policy and a signficant number of families, who do not attend church or do not claim a personal allegiance to the Christian faith, are keen for their children to derive the benefits of a Christian education. Where do Wycliffe students live?Wycliffe students come from many parts of the Blue Mountains and beyond. Whilst the largest number of students come from the Springwood-Winmalee and the Warrimoo-Blaxland-Mount Riverview-Glenbrook-Lapstone areas, students also come from the Upper Mountains as far as Katoomba and many areas of the Hawkesbury and Nepean Valleys. Where is Wycliffe? The Wycliffe campus is located near the end of Rickard Road, Warrimoo. Access is gained from the Great Western Highway either at Blaxland or Warrimoo via Railway Pde. What transport is available?Dedicated bus services are available to and from Wycliffe. These originate at Richmond Station, Penrith Station, Leura Station and a number of points throughout the Lower and Mid Mountains. There is also rail access via Warrimoo Station. Can I travel to Wycliffe from the Greater Western Sydney Region?Yes, Wycliffe is easily accessible from many parts of the Greater Western Sydney area. Wycliffe is a short and pleasant walk from Warrimoo Railway Station on the Blue Mountains Line. Many rail services continue from the main western suburban line, without a train change. Warrimoo is the fourth station on the Blue Mountains Line after leaving Penrith and Emu Plains, with intermediate stops at Lapstone, Glenbrook and Blaxland. How is the school funded? The school is funded from a mix of government funding and parent contributions through fees and donations. Government funding is set at a level to be sensitive to the ability of its families to meet school tuition fees. The school receives both Commonwealth and State funding. Fees are set at a level to maximize the ability of a wide range of families to access the education provided at the school. How do you pronounce Wycliffe? There are variations in local popular usage when pronouncing the name "Wycliffe". The preferred and also considered to be the most historically accurate pronunciation of the "y" in Wycliffe is a shorter sound as in the first "y" in "mystery". This is in preference to the longer "y" sound in "try". |
