Wycliffe’s Junior School offers a caring and nurturing learning community for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our desire is to foster learning that instructs the mind, shapes the heart and equips the hands of our students, preparing them to use their gifts and abilities to be God’s faithful presence in all spheres of life.
We partner with families to create an inclusive environment where all students experience a sense of belonging and know they are treasured and essential members of our school community.
A key dynamic of doing life together as a learning community focussed on Jesus, is modelling and encouraging an attitude of service. We love seeing our students faithfully living out the gospel as they embrace opportunities to serve in the Junior School. From our Year 6 – Kindergarten Buddy program, which sees our older students helping our newest students navigate their way through their first year of school, to our daily Morning Moves program which gives students the chance to lead and encourage each other through set activities at the start of each day, to the regular opportunities to help with grounds support, leading assemblies and fundraising market days. Students at Wycliffe are encouraged to seek out ways to share God’s love and compassion with others both within our community as well as in the wider world.
Our experienced staff provide a rich and connected learning environment where students are valued and encouraged to find their place and purpose in God’s world. At Wycliffe we recognise that each student has a unique set of strengths and abilities. Our staff work hard to identify these in each student and to provide opportunities for individual student growth that nurtures their gifts and equips them to reach their full potential.
Alongside teaching across Key Learning Areas, our Junior School students have access to specialist teaching staff and facilities from our Senior School in areas such as PDHPE, Spanish, Music and STEAM. Students are encouraged and enabled to undertake deep learning projects in areas of special interest and our specialist staff support our students across the full spectrum of learning enhancement from additional scaffolding to enrichment tasks.
In addition to the many learning opportunities in our classrooms, Wycliffe offers a wide range of options for students to explore and develop their gifts and talents outside of classroom experiences.
Our Bush Classroom is a beautiful setting that our youngest students regularly enjoy. The Community Garden provides opportunities for students to learn through doing as they plant, nurture and harvest plants and vegetables they’ve grown themselves. Throughout the year Wycliffe offers students many opportunities to take part in sporting teams and activities and to compete in local and state gala days. For students interested in pursuing and growing musical gifts there are a number of music ensembles and the KidSing choir as well visiting music tutors who provide private tutoring (arranged with families) in voice and a wide variety of musical instruments.
During lunchtimes throughout each week, there are a number of activities students can participate in. Our D13 enrichment space, Chess Club and sporting competitions are some of the options available.
We love seeing our students pursue their wide variety of interests.
Wycliffe is pleased to partner with TASK – The After School Klub to offer an Out of School Hours Care option for families with students in the Junior School. Click here to learn more about TASK at Wycliffe.
